3. OTT

Defensively, Speaker holds career records for double plays, assists, and unassisted double plays by an outfielder. 

His name makes him an unintentional participant in crossword puzzle. A lot of famous names are present in the sports world. However, baseball players Tris Speaker’s popularity is due to his surname which can be clued as a synonym of ‘orator’ and his first name is simple, short and is made up of simple letters. His name has been featured in The New York Times Crossword more than 130 times. 

Speaker, nicknamed ‘The Grey Eagle’ became the regular starting name for Boston in 1903. Speaker hit .309 in 143 games as the team finished third in the pennant race.
